Help paying your bill
Struggling with your bill? Here's the help that exists
If your bill has got away from you, talk to your supplier before it grows. They can't cut you off out of the blue while you're working with them, and they'd far rather agree a plan. Beyond that, there's genuine help available here.
Talk to your supplier first
Ask for a payment plan you can actually afford, and ask to be added to their Customer Care register if you or someone in the house is older, unwell or relies on medical equipment. That register brings extra protections and priority support.
Insulation and heating schemes
The Housing Executive runs NI Energy Advice and the Affordable Warmth Scheme, which can cover insulation, heating upgrades and draught-proofing for eligible households. Boiler replacement support exists too, and your local council can point you at it.
Spreading the cost of oil
Oil buying clubs get a group rate. The Fuel Stamp Scheme and PayPoint oil budgeting cards let you pay in small amounts through the year instead of finding a few hundred pounds in one go.
Free, independent advice
The Consumer Council handles energy complaints in Northern Ireland and can step in if a supplier isn't playing fair. Advice NI and your local council also run free energy advice services — none of them will charge you a penny.
If you ask us
Ring your supplier before you miss a payment, not after. It changes the conversation completely.
Using less helps. Paying less per unit helps more.
