Will my power go off when I switch?

Accepted Answer

No. Nothing physical changes — same wires, same pipes, same meter. Only the name on the bill changes. You won't lose supply for a second.

How long does switching take?

Usually about two weeks from the moment you agree. You'll get a cooling-off period, and your old supplier sends a final bill once the changeover reading goes through.

Question 3

Does Bully cost me anything?

Accepted Answer

Never. Bully is completely free to use. It doesn't change your price and it doesn't change the order of your results — cheapest for you goes top, full stop.

Can I switch if I have a keypad meter?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Plenty of NI suppliers compete for keypad customers and the meter normally stays exactly where it is. Your new supplier just reprogrammes it.

I don't know how much energy I use. Can I still compare?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Not sure? No problem — we'll use a typical Northern Ireland home to get you started, and you can pop in your real numbers later for a sharper answer.

Is gas available where I live?

Natural gas in Northern Ireland is split between the Greater Belfast & West network and the Ten Towns network, and some areas have no gas at all. Enter your postcode and we'll tell you straight away what's available to you.

Do you cover home heating oil?

Oil isn't a licensed supply you switch in the same way, so we don't rank oil deals. We do explain how to buy it better in our tips, and the Consumer Council publishes a weekly NI oil price check that's worth a look.

What if I'm in the middle of a contract?

You can still switch, but there may be a fee for leaving early. We always show that fee on the deal, so you can see whether the saving outweighs it.

What if something goes wrong with my switch?

Talk to your new supplier first — most issues are a meter reading mix-up. If you get nowhere, the Consumer Council handles energy complaints in Northern Ireland and it's free.

Why is your price different from the supplier's website?

Prices change, and we show the dated version we used. Every figure on Bully traces back to a tariff version with a date on it, so you can check our workings — and you should always confirm on the supplier's own page before you switch.
