Why you can trust the numbers
Anyone can put a big saving on a website. Here's exactly where our figures come from, who keeps the energy companies honest, and what happens to your details when you switch through us.
Where our prices come from
Every unit rate and standing charge on this site comes from published supplier tariffs and the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland's price comparison tables. We don't estimate prices and we don't average them into something vague.
Each deal carries the date we last checked it against its source — our Northern Ireland rate book was last verified 16 August 2026. If a supplier changes a price after that date, the old figure stays visible with its date until we've checked the new one, rather than quietly changing under you.
See every price we holdWho regulates energy here
- Northern Ireland: the Utility Regulator sets the rules for suppliers and regulates Power NI's household electricity tariff and Firmus Energy's regulated gas tariff in the Greater Belfast network.
- Consumer advice and complaints: the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland handles energy complaints once a supplier's own process hasn't sorted it.
- Republic of Ireland: the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) regulates suppliers, with complaints going to the CRU's customer care team.
We're none of these bodies. We're a comparison service — we compare energy deals, we don't supply them.
Who your contract is with
When you finish a switch here, your energy contract is with the supplier you picked, not with us. Their terms, their bills, their customer service. What we do is check your details read right and pass them over so nothing gets lost in the post.
You've 14 days to change your mind on any switch agreed online. Cancel it from your account and we'll stop it — no questions, no charge.
Switch terms version cf-switch-terms-2026-08. We record which version you agreed to, so there's never an argument about what you signed up to.
What we do with your details
- Compare without giving us anything but a postcode. No account needed.
- We only pass your details to a supplier when you've ticked the box saying we can, for the deal you chose.
- We never sell your details on, and we don't ring you out of the blue to sell things.
- Ask us and we'll tell you everything we hold about you, or delete it. That's your right, not a favour.
Your supply never gets interrupted
Switching supplier changes who bills you, not how the electricity or gas reaches your house. Nobody calls out, nothing gets dug up, and there's no day without power. The wires and pipes are run by the network operator either way.
If we get it wrong
Tell us. Use the help centre or ask Buster and we'll look at the actual maths with you. If our figure was wrong, we fix the rate book so nobody else gets the same wrong answer.
Right then. Let's see what you're owed.

Cut the BILLOCKS. Buster fills the form.
Your details go into the supplier's real form and nowhere else odd. You still press send — Buster just spares you the typing, because BILLOCKS, life's short.
1. You tell Buster once
Name, address, meter, how you pay. Given once, kept for next time.
2. Buster fills the form
He lines up every answer in the supplier's own wording on their genuine application.
3. You stay in charge
Any declaration, verification or final send stops with you. Buster never signs for you.
4. The real reference lands
We store the reference the supplier actually gives you, with a full audit trail.
Buster only offers this for suppliers whose real application we've checked — never a made-up form, never a reference we invented.
